Brett Barker, BA, BFA, MAE is the creative force behind the Brett Barker Design Studio,Sprocketeria, and Peace. Love. Shibori. brands.  In 2012, Brett began creating innovative surface/textile designs and fine art from a Redondo Beach, California studio by using a variety of media such as acrylics, oils, thread, textiles, charcoal, watercolors, gold leaf and pastels.  Textile and surface designs are then refined, altered, or put into repeat using CAD software.  Japanese shibori-dyed artwork and apparel are also produced and can be viewed under the tab.

Years of experience as a professional artist, an adjunct faculty member (currently teaching at the prestigious ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA), and an author of a best-selling textile design book have given Brett a valuable, unique perspective on wall art, textile design, and surface design.  Her current work stems from living throughout the U.S. and abroad (Santa Fe, Nashville, Manhattan, Paris, Tuscany, Malmo (Sweden), etc.) and often references such diverse influences as European classical paintings, Japanese packaging design, jewelry from New Mexico, and the sand and surf of Southern California.  Some design titles reference Japanese or American horror films. Yes, there's a story.  Be nice and you might get to hear it.
