I'm so excited to be visiting the Surtex trade show in New York City for the first time this year! On the advice of my fellow surface designers, I'm "walking the show," just taking it all in and prepping for exhibiting in 2016. If you haven't yet gone to the Surtex website, I recommend it--each exhibiting artist has up to five photos of their current work so it's a great way to get inspired without having to take the red-eye to New York City!
I'll be blogging during the entire week, posting comments and "finds" in and around NYC. My mother is joining me in the city for a little R-and-R before the show starting tomorrow, May 13th. We've "done" the city before, and I used to live in Manhattan (33rd and Lex), so this year, we are going to skip some of the traditional sites in favor of venturing out to new and unusual places. And yes, I'll be talking about food--hey, I didn't eat my way through Italy for 6 weeks for nothin'! If you have recommendations on restaurants, cool textile places, paper goods stores, or anything else, please leave a comment! I'll also be feeding my obsession for the Statue of Liberty, taking tons of pix and buying kitschy souvenirs. I heart NYC.
